THIS WEEK'S UPDATE

With 9 rounds now completed it is starting to hit home that there is only 6 rounds to go (9 if your team is lucky enough to go all the way this year). The winter solstice has come & gone but the cold weather is definitely still with us, so take care out there especially on the roads.

As much as we all enjoy winning, wasn't it awesome to see the girls youth team hold Wallan to only 46 points & kicking 26 points themselves. You may be saying "Yeah but they lost" that is correct on the scoreboard, but in many eyes they won. When you think back to the last time these girls played Wallan they only managed to kick 9 points & had 81 kicked against them. The point is, yes they lost the game but the win this week is the improvement coming from the girls & like I keep saying, improvement amongst all our teams is really what success should be measured by, finals & premierships are bonuses for continuous hard work & a bit of luck.

Other results across the club have been mixed again this week. From all reports all 3 tackers teams just keep getting better & better - often against bigger bodied teams & in near freezing weather.
Both of our U/10's got up for good wins last week, U/11's came back down to earth this week getting jumped early but fighting the game out in true Saints style but unfortunately they couldn't come away with the points. Both U/12's got up for good wins this week with the u/12G now winning 4 in a row. Both our 13's had losses this week but both teams continue to show dramatic improvements week in week out. Our 14's, after last weeks nail biting win couldn't quite come away with the points this week & our 15's & Colts teams continue to be ravaged by lack of playing numbers for various reasons, but due to quality of people they are, they keep playing out their games in the spirit in which it should be with a never give up attitude.

Just a reminder that there is no YJFL games scheduled for next weekend (05/07) due to the YJFL Interleague matches being played. Anyone interested in going along, watching & supporting SAINTS on the day, Nathan ALDRIDGE (u/10) Beau MOORCROFT (u/11), Bobby LAMANNA (u/12) & Joshua IACOBACCIO (u/13) in their games, they will be played on Sunday 5th July at Bulleen Park.
